About the Opera

Blind Injustice is a powerful opera that brings to life the true stories of six individuals who were wrongfully tried, convicted and imprisoned, only to be exonerated through the efforts of the Ohio Innocence Project (OIP). In collaboration with OIP and the Young Professionals Choral Collective (YPCC), the opera draws from OIP casework, the book Blind Injustice by University of Cincinnati law professor and OIP Director Mark Godsey, and interviews with the six exonerees.

Co-commissioned by CCM and the Cincinnati Opera in 2019, this compelling 90-minute work follows the OIP’s fight to overturn the wrongful convictions of men, women and teens falsely accused of violent crimes, shedding light on the systemic issues within the justice system.

This performance will feature University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music alumni and faculty.
