Lindner Alumni Spotlight: Andrew Damcevski
BBA ’15, Cincinnati
“Because I graduated from the Lindner College of Business, I can now… follow my dreams of being a financial planner and run my own business.”
I’m one of the youngest CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professionals in the country and I help people do more with their money! I co-founded TruWealth Planning in OTR in early 2017, was recently acquired by Rhinevest, a subsidiary of Truepoint Wealth Counsel. As an owner of Rhinevest, I work with our clients on everything from retirement planning and investing, budgeting, stock options, and everything in-between. It’s my goal to listen and help our clients with the things that are most important to them, not put them in a box like the industry typically has.
Q: When have you been most satisfied in your life?
A: It’s difficult to pinpoint a specific time. But, what I do know is that I feel satisfied and encouraged every time I reflect on where I am in life, the people I’ve met, what I’ve accomplished, and how bright the future is. I’m not complacent - all those feelings drive me to move forward and keep improving.
Q: Who is your role model and why?
A: My role model is easily my dad. He has always been true to his values of putting family first and working hard. He is a business owner as well, and that has helped me understand from a young age what being your own boss truly means and the work that goes into it.
Q: What inspires you?
A: Gratitude inspires me. It’s a little cheesy, but there is no better feeling than someone expressing how thankful they are for what you’ve done for them. It’s my favorite feeling when a client calls or email to say thank you, and how appreciative they are that I took the time to work with them.
Q: What was your favorite experience during your time at UC?
A: My favorite experience at UC was homecoming tailgates! It was, and still is, great to get together with friends, go back to campus, check out the Sigma Chi house, and then cheer on the Cats!
Q: What was your favorite class that you took and why?
A: Consumer Behavior with Joshua Clarkson. He was a super smart guy and made the class a ton of fun. Learning how people make decisions and the science and psychology behind it was fascinating to me. My business is all about working with people, so it’s nice to understand how people process information.
