UC Legend Glenn Sample Remembered

UC lost one of its most beloved Bearcats on November 21 with the passing of Glenn Sample, CECH ‘53.

A moving memorial service was held December 8 in Fifth Third Arena to honor Glenn, a West Side Cincinnati native who starred on the UC football team under Coach Sid Gillman, later coached the baseball Bearcats for 21 years, served as wrestling coach and assistant director of athletics during stretches of his career, and was always one of UC’s greatest ambassadors.

“Glenn is a true legend and had a positive influence on anyone with whom he came in contact,” said Myron Hughes, Executive Director of the UC Alumni Association. “Not only will the UC family miss him, but the entire Cincinnati community will have a huge void to fill. There will not be another one like him for years to come, if ever.”
