UC Alumni Association Launches Revised Membership Program

The University of Cincinnati Alumni Association Board of Governors has approved a modification of the organization’s membership program in which annual membership dues are replaced by dedicated, annual membership donations that support the Alumni Association’s work.

“This new philanthropic model recognizes the inherent value of the UC Alumni Association (UCAA) within the UC community as the primary means by which 230,000-plus alumni worldwide can be engaged in the life of the university,” said Steve Simendinger (A&S ’74, Bus ’76), president of the UCAA Board of Governors.

As it formalizes support for the UC Alumni Association, the new membership program should also facilitate alumni involvement, no matter wherever alumni live.

“When our alumni become more engaged with UC through the UC Alumni Association, everyone benefits — the individual alum, the vast network of alumni and friends, our current students, and the university overall,” said Ryan Rybolt (Eng ’97), chair of UCAA’s Membership Committee. “This revised membership model builds on that reality and encourages the support necessary for us to serve the entire UC family.”

In the new membership model, four levels of participation exist:

  • All UC alumni (anyone who attended the university) have access to certain basic programs, services and opportunities, including the inCircle online community, “concierge” services, fundamental communications, etc.

  • Any alumnus who makes a donation in any amount to any part of the university becomes a UCAA member and thus has access to a wider range of opportunities and information, including automatically receiving UC Magazine.

  • Anyone who makes a direct donation to the UC Alumni Association at a prescribed minimum amount becomes a UCAA Sustaining Member. Sustaining Members obtain the full suite of benefits, including broader access to programs, services and opportunities; local and national discounts on services offered by merchant partners; UC Library privileges; Campus Recreation Center discounts; eligibility for UCAA’s legacy scholarships; a UCAA Sustaining Membership card; and any new benefits created in a suite that will continually grow. This is on top of all those benefits available to basic members.

Sustaining Memberships are available for individuals or families, with Family memberships covering an alumnus and spouse/partner plus any children 18 and under.  In addition, a special New Graduate Sustaining Membership is available for the first year after an alumnus earns his or her initial UC degree.

Minimum donations to become a Sustaining Member are:
  • Annual Individual - $50
  • Annual Family - $75

  • New Graduate Annual Individual - $20
  • New Graduate Annual Family - $45
  • Life Memberships are available for minimum donations of $1,500 for an individual or $2,000 for a family.  Life Members receive the full suite of benefits as Sustaining Members do, in perpetuity.
