UC alumni and friends will come together from all over the region for “UC Day with the Reds” on Saturday, June 20, at Great American Ball Park. 

And it’s not just any ballgame. . . The Reds will host the Chicago White Sox in the third annual Major League Baseball Civil Rights Game, which pays tribute to efforts toward racial equality and diversity in baseball and society. 

The game, which will start at 7:10 p.m., will be the centerpiece of a Reds-White Sox weekend series built around an array of special Civil Rights Game events. Click here to learn more (.doc) about the history of the Civil Rights Game and the activities that make up the celebratory weekend. 

A highlight of the weekend will be the presentation of Major League Baseball’s Beacon Awards to American cultural icons Hank Aaron, Muhammad Ali and Bill Cosby. Click here to learn more about their selection as Beacon Award winners.

The UC Alumni Association is one of the partners involved in promoting the Civil Rights Game and weekend, and tickets to the game are available at a discount to UCAA Sustaining and Life Members.

• Special Pre-Game Event:  Blackfinn, downtown Cincinnati, 4-7 p.m.  Plenty of drink specials and food discounts for UCAA Sustaining and Life Members.
